March’s presentation meeting will be held on Thursday, March 28. Socializing will begin around 6:30pm with the presentation beginning promptly at 7:30pm.
The presentation will be given by Steve Kelly, WB4QNI. The topic is “antennas”.
Steve has many years of experience designing, building, and erecting various types of antennas. In his presentation, Steve hopes to highlight many tips and tricks for construction and erection of antennas that he has developed and learned over the years. This should be a fantastic meeting, for sure! Hope to see as many folks as possible attend.
Several members of YCARS, who are a part of York County ARES, attended Auxcomm ARES training on February 9th at the SC State Emergency Operations Center.
Topics included amateur and non-amateur radio communications operations that are used during emergency deployments and practice using multiple modes and frequencies using numerous field deploy-able communications trailers.

Rock Hill now has the FIRST digital-only Yaesu System Fusion Repeater in SC! Coverage of this repeater is proving to be good. It is linked to Wires-X. ALL Yaesu System Fusion radio owners are encouraged to use the repeater and feel free to link it to any Wires-X room anywhere in the world they would like. It’s here to serve the local ham community!
The frequency for the repeater is currently 440.250 with a +5MHz offset.

The presentation will be given by John Gendron, NJ4Z. The topic is DX Operation & DX Cluster.
John is an avid DX’er. In his presentation, John will cover proper etiquette for working DX, tips and tricks to get through to those rare DX stations, and how to FIND those DX contacts that you still need. Additionally, John will relay his first hand knowledge of operating from a DX location as well as planning and executing a DX-pedition. This should be a fantastic meeting, for sure! Hope to see as many folks as possible attend.
