Join YCARS for the SC QSO party on February 29, at the YCARS clubhouse, from 10am – 9pm EST.
We will have two stations on the air. We will be operating 160 – 10m from the YCARS clubhouse and hope to make loads of contacts across the state and across the country!
This is a fun contest. YCARS’ participation this year will be focused more on fun than on winning. We encourage all members who would like experience and practice operating under contest conditions to come out and get on the air!
Darcy Pach, K4DQP recently set up a Raspberry Pi to catch NOAA weather satellite images directly from space. Below are some of the images recently captured from NOAA 15, 18 and 19. He’ll be presenting at the April 2020 program meeting on how to set up your own weather satellite station.
A huge thanks to the YCARS members who came out and helped fellow member, KN4JYY, raise a new BuckMaster OCF dipole and dual band antenna at his home. We had a great turn-out and the result is fantastic.
Come on out to the YCARS clubhouse on Thursday, January 2, for our monthly fun night. The first Thursday of each month is our monthly casual get-together where we socialize, talk ham radio, exercise the radios in the shack, and just have a fantastic time! All are welcome. If you haven’t been to YCARS before, or haven’t been in a while, please come on out! We’d love to show you around!
YCARS hosted a fantastic VE test session this morning. Seven candidates took exams and eight elements were passed.
Something you don’t see very often – Christopher, here with the VE team, came in unlicensed and walked out being the highest class license there is. Yes, Technician, General, and Extra, all in one session!
