May Presentation Meeting – Get Weather Aware!

Join Daniel, KN4KBY, at 7:30pm at the YCARS clubhouse on Thursday, May 23, for an excellent presentation on weather related topics for ham radio.

Daniel will be covering radar interpretation for the Skywarn spotter as well as the important role that Skywarn spotters play in weather reporting and forecasting.

He will also provide an overview of the Slack platform that York County ARES uses for communication and collaboration with its members. Hope to see everyone there!

May Fun Night!

Join us on Thursday, May 2, at the YCARS clubhouse for our monthly hobby/fun night. Socialize. Chat ham radio. Meet other club members. Get on the air. Work a new mode. Get your HT programmed. There’s no set agenda other than hams having fun and hanging out!

Folks will start to arrive around 6pm and we typically hang out until around 8:30.

March Presentation Meeting

March’s presentation meeting will be held on Thursday, March 28. Socializing will begin around 6:30pm with the presentation beginning promptly at 7:30pm.

The presentation will be given by Steve Kelly, WB4QNI. The topic is “antennas”.

Steve has many years of experience designing, building, and erecting various types of antennas. In his presentation, Steve hopes to highlight many tips and tricks for construction and erection of antennas that he has developed and learned over the years. This should be a fantastic meeting, for sure! Hope to see as many folks as possible attend.

It’s Time to Paint the Clubhouse

It’s time to give the clubhouse some TLC, and we’re starting with a deep clean and a fresh coat of paint!

Sherwin-Williams in Rock Hill was nice enough to donate YCARS enough paint to cover the entire interior of the clubhouse!

We need volunteers to help with a painting party at the clubhouse on the weekend of March 16 and 17.

We’ll start on Saturday by pulling everything off the walls and giving the clubhouse a good deep cleaning. The painting will then begin.

We need brushes and rollers if you’ve got them. If you have a 6′ or 8′ step ladder, that will come in handy as well.

Come on out and help the clubhouse look like new again! All the help we can get is greatly appreciated!
