Come on out to the YCARS clubhouse on Thursday, January 2, for our monthly fun night. The first Thursday of each month is our monthly casual get-together where we socialize, talk ham radio, exercise the radios in the shack, and just have a fantastic time! All are welcome. If you haven’t been to YCARS before, or haven’t been in a while, please come on out! We’d love to show you around!
YCARS hosted a fantastic VE test session this morning. Seven candidates took exams and eight elements were passed.
Something you don’t see very often – Christopher, here with the VE team, came in unlicensed and walked out being the highest class license there is. Yes, Technician, General, and Extra, all in one session!
Congratulations to all!
VE tests will be held on Saturday, December 21!
Bring photocopy of government issued picture ID, Pencil/Pen. For upgrades, bring official copy of existing license. Basic Calculators are allowed but not programmable ones.
Testing will begin at 9:30am. It is recommended you arrive early to complete your necessary paperwork and get checked in. The testing location is our clubhouse, 2051 Squire Road, Rock Hill, SC.
Good luck to all those who take an exam!

Folks will start to arrive around 6pm and we typically hang out until around 8:30.
It’s with a heavy heart that we were informed that Fred Thompson, KK4FT, passed away the morning of November 21.
Fred was not only the treasurer of YCARS, but he was a great man, a brilliant man, and a valued member of our club and the community.
Fred will be missed dearly.
We are pleased to announce that York County is now being served by Greenville-Spartanburg Regional Skywarn.

Skywarn nets are held on the new repeater on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7:30 PM. The new repeater is linked to the K9OH repeater system and is linkable to the WARNS repeater system during severe weather. Please see https://gspskywarn.org/ for more information. The website is being updated to show the new repeater and get more infomation listed.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who has made this possible, and rest assured that York County stands ready for severe weather. You can now be reliably represented to the National Weather Service. Please feel free to use the repeater any time as there’s a great group of folks on there and make sure to stop by and check in to the nets.
